Things To Know Before Your Hair Colour Appointment
Nothing screams change, boosted confidence and a pick-me-up as much as a fresh hair color. At Grace Gold, the last thing we want for you is to experience any regret so here’s a small guide to help you through your hair coloring appointment, leaving our salon satisfied with how gorgeous your hair looks.
Do Not Shampoo
One golden rule to remember beforehand is to only shampoo your hair at least 2-4 days before your hair coloring appointment unless your hairdresser tells you not to do so. This is to make sure that the natural oil layer in your scalp will act as a barrier against any chemicals present in the hair dye. But luckily for you, our products are of the highest quality, animal-cruelty free AND vegan, so they’re nothing but great for your hair!
Lay Off the Heating Tools
It’s best to leave your hair in its most natural shape, which means without the use of any heating tools, when coming in for your appointment. In order to maximize the colour and look you’re going for, allowing us to work with your natural hair shape is important. This is because when working with highlights or a technique like Balayage, we colour your hair depending on how your hair frames your face.
Bring Some Inspiration
Bringing an inspiration picture for your hair appointment regardless of whether you are picky or not will help keep you and your stylist on the same page. A picture helps paint the exact color you want on your hair. After all, beachy blonde could mean golden yellow to you while it may be completely different to your hairstylist. You will definitely get an input from your stylist on if your desired color is doable, how many sittings it will take, and how flattering it will be to your undertone and skin tone.
Be Patient When It Comes To Hair
Here’s the thing, sometimes the colour you’re trying to get won’t be achieved in one session. You can get an overall estimate of how many sessions you’ll need from your stylist. At the end of the day, it’s important to trust your hairstylist and listen to their recommendations- if they say that your hair will take too much damage from a major change like platinum blonde or strawberry red, you should believe them and try looking at some alternatives.
Be Mindful About Maintenance
Know that you will require touch ups for your hair treatments. If it is for balayage or highlights, you can go for months without a touchup, while if you have bleached your hair, touch ups may be required every couple of weeks.
These are some ways you can prepare yourself before your hair colour appointment. If you’re looking for a full makeover, just give us a call and we’ll make it happen! Avoid the damage that colouring causes by nourishing your hair with one of our treatments too!
